• Day 19: Kathmandu, Nepal

    Chinese Version / 中文版本

The time of the flight from Kathmandu to New Delhi scheduled in the evening, so we decided to travel more in-depth of Kathmandu today. It was just because we wanted to make up for the lost time of our daily naps and crazy shopping.

The first stop of our intensive day trip was Royal Palace/Dubar Square. We only wanted to take some photos on the square and had not planned to visit the museums inside. However, entrance fee 500 NPR has to be applied even going inside of the square. We just gave up and left in the end.

We turned and walked back to Thamel, but then decided to take the cab to the quite far away Patan Dubar Square instead. Patan was originally a city of art in the ancient time, many temples were built inside the city. Looking from the outside, we could see Patan was a lot bigger than Dubar Square. And they shared the same amount of entrance fee, therefore, we agreed to pay a visit.

After walking for a while in Patan, we picked a random restaurant to have lunch. I ordered a bowl of noodle soup and it was surprisingly mouthwatering, the food in Nepal was truly a gem sometimes!

We wandered around Patan for a bit more and then returned to Thamel by cab again. Suddenly, I started to feel so dizzy because of low blood sugar. I hurried myself to buy a pack of snicker and afterwards I felt so much better. At that time, I guessed my companions thought I was genuinely a burden who got intestinal cramps not long ago and now low blood sugar.

Once we got back to Thamel, it was time for us to leave for the airport. There is some distance between Thamel and the airport, thus the taxi no longer drove on those built-on-the-hill-highways. Finally I got the sense of a big city here in Kathmandu at the very last minute.

When we arrived at the airport, we saw a line outside of the departure hall. People needed to hand in the copy of their e-ticket so as to enter to the airport. Although it can prevent those hobos hanging inside, it is quite troublesome for us the travelers, when not everyone prints their e-tickets before leaving home!

The check-in and custom procedure in the airport were very smooth. And the budget airline we were taking was Spice Jet. It only took an hour to get to New Delhi. Comparing with the airport of Kathmandu, the airport of New Delhi was so much more modernized. The facilities inside could also meet the international standards.

Before we left Kathmandu, we had already booked the hostel and arranged the pickup service from them. The driver had been waiting for us for a long time outside of the airport, because we spent quite some time figuring out the ATM machines. We could feel that he was so not satisfied with us by his unwelcoming gesture.

The weather of New Delhi is obviously hotter than Kathmandu. The hot wind blown from the car window made us all sweat already. The summer of India is so hot that I do not know how we will suffer in the coming days!

The hostel we are staying for tonight is Smyle Inn. The taxi pulled over in the main street and then carried our luggage to the hostel. To get to the entrance, we got to pass through a pretty small and dark alley. The people on the sides just stared at us strangely as if we were some alien invaders. I felt pretty awkward too, luckily we arrived at the front entrance of our hostel in few minutes.

At night, we went to the main street to have dinner, and it was super terrible!!!!!! Eason was so risky that he even bought the grilled chicken from the opposite street vendors, which was located right next to a open public toilet, it's just superrrrrrrr sickening! I have a feeling that this one-week trip in India will be awfully unbearable!!!
