Last night I had the worst sleep since this trip started, two main reasons: 1) The air condition was too cold, and the hostel only provided a thin bed sheet for us as the blanket. 2) My head was stuck with the unplanned journey, the train schedule already made my head hurt so badly.
Because of the bad sleep, I woke up early today to continue reading the travel guides of India. Outside of our room there is a travel agency, I checked all the train schedule with the travel agent and still couldn't think of a solid plan. When I still had no idea of how to plan our routine, the staff lent a helping hand by giving us another suggestion - to hire a driver and rent a car for 7 days. The driver would drive us to Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar and then back to New Delhi on the 7th day. After the discussion with Chloe and Eason, we found the the price was reasonable, so we decided to do it and needed not to worry about the future journey anymore!!!
After all trouble plans got solved, we went out for brunch on the other end of the main street this time. The taste was much better than yesterday's one, but they still took very long time to get the food done. If you are in hurry, please think twice before dining in a restaurant in India! Cooking is much better!
At around 1 p.m., we started off our journey to get to our rental car, but beforehand we had to take a Tuk Tuk when the private car could not enter to the main street. When we got on our car, the driver introduced himself to us as Singh. Right after his self introduction, he went 'I will be driving you guys for 7 days. The money you already paid does not include my tips, therefore, you guys remember to give me tips on the last day!' We remained silent but were all shocked indeed. The trip has not yet started and he is talking about tips, can he be more profit-minded? (The first impression he gave us was very bad, this also led to our very bad relationship in the end)
The ride from New Delhi to Agra took about 4 or 5 hours. On the way, we saw a long-time-no-see Mc Donald's. We asked the driver to drop by so that we could take some rest inside. The price of the Indian Mc Donald's is almost the same as the one in Hong Kong. The only difference is that they do not sell beef. All the signature burgers are made with chicken. The other choices are vegetarian burgers. We ordered some take-outs and headed straight back to the car.
After around 2 hours, we arrived at Agra. Before we started off the journey today, we had checked some hotels in advance. The driver drove us to the first one, but there was no room with air condition. Then the driver drove us to the one he strongly recommended us. We did not agree, as of his doubtful personality and he might have some inside deal with the hotel staff. Therefore, he parked the car there and Chloe and I took another Tuk Tuk to the old town to look for another one.
The environment in the old town is very complicated. There are many people, many street food vendors and it is so filthy on the street with piles of garbage. It's not easy for us to find the hotel's entrance after quite some time. The environment of this hotel is not very pleasant, but the price is good so we decided to stay in this one. We needed to get back to our car and get our stuff and pick up Eason first. However, my stomach started hurting quite badly at that moment, perhaps I forgot to order the soda without ice in Mc Donald's, no wonder........
When we got back to the car, the driver and the hotel staff convinced us to stay again. We agreed to look around first, but the environment was seemingly the best comparing with those two we had seen, at least this one was quite clean. Therefore, we stayed in this hotel for the night after bargaining to 900 INR.
